Our Product

AHL-TECH's locomotives use a Power Module™ concept that allows AHL-TECH to offer a line of locomotives in a horsepower range from 1,000hp to 3,000hp in both B-B and C-C wheel arrangements. Because AHL-TECH locomotives are a true hybrid design, AHL-TECH locomotives feature regenerative braking as well as conventional resistor grid dynamic brakes. All of this power is controlled by AHL-TECH's patent pending Predictive Power Management Control (PPMC)™ software. Look for this new technology to re-define locomotive control and efficiency.

Upgradeability

Because AHL-TECH Power Modules™ are discreet components, AHL-TECH can offer railroads the first truly "upgradable" hybrid locomotive design. Look for AHL-TECH to introduce new engine, battery, and energy storage technologies as these become available. And because these new technologies will all follow the Power Module™ design, upgrading a locomotive will require only a simple module swap or upgrade, along with a corresponding PPMC software update.

Who We Are

Formed in 2005, AHL-TECH is partnering with industry leading companies to develop the world's first locomotive specifically designed to use ultra-clean biofuels. The AHL-TECH ethanol-electric hybrid design combines cutting edge technologies in power generation, energy storage, electronics, and software, to create locomotives capable of delivering the required horsepower for real-world locomotive duty cycles.
